So here it begins:

Poetry talks when you need it and stays quiet when you don't.

Poetry is the holes in the fabric of the sweater.

Poetry is waking up one morning and knowing exactly what you want to do with your life.

Poetry is taking a word like 'snail' and making a five course meal with wine out of it.

Poetry is a place. It's where I put my heart and you pick it up to see. My triumphs and scars are engraved there. It is impossible for us to keep such things to ourselves and so we share.—Emily Burns

Poetry will live as long as mankind.

A persons poetry is unlikely to mean more to someone else.

Poetry is more feel than see.

Poetry is one of the second elements of the food chain for moving on.

_____________________________________________

Poetry is one of life's many shadows-

Poetry is to thought what dreams are to the subconcious mind.

Poetry changes who you were.

Poetry is withdrawl of emotional capital.

Poetry is no more or less than you make of it.

Poetry will still be there the morning after.

Poetry can make you different.

"Poetry is a global temperature that’ll always surprise us.

Poetry is an ice-cream melted slowly by the sun.

Poetry is the lion tamer proudly teaching me to put my head in the lion’s mouth.

Poetry is the lawyer I hired, telling me lies… and sometimes the truth.

Poetry is a mistake charging one to reach for self perfection.

Poetry is a clinic, where I often check my blood pressure and quietly listen to my heart.

Poetry is the dream house, whence I get those unconditional kisses and hugs. "

"Poetry is the lyrics to the melody of life's heartbeat."

"Poetry is...

Beauty, reason, quiet, love, lust, passion, humility, valor, trust, honesty, loyalty, faith, completion, beginings, tidings, rememberance, forgiveness, anger, regret, embelishment, sorrow, betrayal, hope...

Nature, and being natural.
Religion, and being spiritual.
Industry, and its progression.
History, and its repition.
Emotion, and the sharing of those compelations.

All things and all things opposite those things."

" Poetry is the mirror of the innermost soul
It's a tonic to the heart that makes you whole
It can be taken in doses large, yes even small
The smallest of people it can make to walk tall."

"Poetry is distinctly something more than a poem; more than rhyme or verse or dry recitation rehearsed. It's not necessarily found in lines with meter. Poetry is a place to live - to come from, to move within - a way to comport oneself and move through the world. Poetry transcends language and resettles in images, music, in chance gestures, in scents and beyond sense. It stretches words through, then past standard meaning. It fixes a point and then points beyond it; takes one into a netherworld of unity and commonality then brings one back full circle and full throttle to their own self. Poetry is a sheet of glass, sometimes seeming beveled to distort the view and sometimes, clearer than one's own clear sight. It's a window and a mirror where one glances out and past themselves to find their own reflection. It is the sound that slips off the sun like smoke and leaves us startled. It is speech that leaves us speechless and welcomed to a new level of communication with ourselves and so, with others. Metaphor is the foot soldier for possibility. Endless meaning's opening and opening again like russian dolls. Its alchemy shifts the heart into places where transformation is possible and inertia or hardness can be reborn toward an infinitely unfolding multi-foliate bloom."

"Poetry is the expression of my soul.
What I think, what I really feel.
It is away for me to express, what is deep within my heart.
I take it seriously, it is my art ".

Poetry
is magic
with
words and
rhythm,
lyric and
grace,
vision and
life.

Poetry
is seduction.

The
flirting between
words
and what it
means to
tease the
waters
and
dive.

Poetry
is dreaming
the
story and
knowing
that the beauty
is in
the
journey…

the creating
and the
making
and all
that is
in between
the
lines.

Poetry
is.

Poetry is more than merely a gift we share with others, seeking to evolve as human beings. It is a calling. If you cannot hear its voice, you cannot reply. Poets are the gatekeepers to a civilized world. They preserve culture, change survival into living and generally make the world a better place in which to reside. Without music and arts, we are only beasts on two legs.

Poetry is the outlet of my imaginations
It's the river flowing from my stream of consciousness
which allows me to go wherever my mind can take me

To me poetry is a form of soul cleansing.

Poetry is...

the language of a lover
the music of a singer
the rhythm of the dancer
and the passion of a writer....
